This could be my shortest page ever. While I mostly subscribe to a Libertarian-leaning political philosophy, it becomes more obvious to me that the majority of Americans do as well, and just don’t know it. I invite my reader(s?) to ask me what I think about the current political situation we got going on, and what I think about it. I felt stirred to write something, but there are just too many subjects to write about. I need somewhere to start. Anyone?

How about we all quit and apply for a bail out?
You wouldn’t be alone, California is already asking for one, to the tune of $7 billion. A number of towns in other liberal parts of the country are also going broke because of tax and spend policies (y’know, not everybody deserves a 6 digit salary despite how many votes that will buy you). The auto industry is jumping in the gimme gimme line as well, and some suspect that perhaps even credit card companies aren’t too far behind.
So what does this build for us? Basically a very big problem in regards to the entire reason people get into business in the first place: make money by providing goods and services to buyers. Markets are formed when multiple businesses compete for people’s loyalties to their products or services, and this keeps prices low and quality high. If either fluctuate in a negative way, people have the choice to switch businesses, forcing others to change the way they do business to be more competitive.
Standard free market economics 101. Now the government is saying, “no worries! You don’t have to have good business practices or a balanced budget to keep your profit margins reasonable! We’ll just watch you tank because you made stupid decisions and give you money to keep your head above water.” Ridiculous. So you get what we’re seeing, more and more people lining up to cash in on the latest government gravy train, because if you gave it to them, then it’s only fair that you dish it out to everyone else too. At least, that’s what these other idiotic business owners are saying.
Doesn’t anyone remember what happened when the airlines all started going under? Yeah, nothing. They went bankrupt and assumed new management and guess what? THEY’RE STILL HERE. No government needed.
